BenQ today announced that they will phase out the Siemens brand name, now that they bought out the German manufacturer's handset unit. Although they bought the rights to use the Siemens brand for 5 years, BenQ intends to phase out the brand by 2007. Until then they will continue to sell device under the Siemens brand in regions where BenQ has little or no brand recognition such as Europe and North America. Handsets will be sold under the BenQ brand sooner in Asia, where it is already well known.
