Google today rolled out updates to its Google+ applications that focus on improving how the service treats photos and videos captured with smartphones. For example, the Auto Awesome feature will now automatically combine photos and videos to create travelogues in a feature called Stories. Google+ is adding Auto Awesome Movies to the Android, iOS, and web versions of Google+, which will automatically generate highlight reels. The app now makes it easy to create animated GIFs and photobooth-type images with a the Motion and Mix tools. Google+ also gains support for much larger photo libraries on Android devices, providing mobile access to thousands of photos stored on Google's servers. The service organizes photos by date, and adds a scroll bar to make it simple to zoom backward or forward in time. Google+ profiles now display total content views, include a new navigation bar for moving around the service, and make it simpler to share content from mobile devices. The new Google+ for Android devices is available today. The iOS version will follow shortly.
