Google and Songza today announced that Google has acquired the small start-up for an undisclosed sum. Songza offers a playlist- and song-recommendation service that uses variables such as the time of day and location to cultivate selections. According to Google, there will be no immediate changes made to Songza's service. Google did not say what part of the company Songza's 40 staffers will be joining, but did say it will continue to make the service faster and easier to use. Companies such as Apple, Microsoft, and Google have been angling to improve their mobile music offerings, which Songza may be able to do for Google.
