Cingular last week announced a four year deal with Lucent to integrate IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS or IPMS) into Cingular's soon to be launched 3G network. Lucent will provide software that allows content and data to be delivered to to a variety of devices over IP-based networks from a single server. SBC, majority owner of Cingular, yesterday announced it plans to use the IMS network to allow users to share their data or stream broadcasts across many devices - computers, TVs, mobile phones and more.
