Aug 7, 2014, 1:35 PM by Eric M. Zeman
Facebook today said it has agreed to acquire a small company called PrivateCore. The company is based in California and helps companies secure the data on their servers. Facebook said it will put PrivateCore's technology to use protecting its servers against "persistent malware, unauthorized physical access, and malicious hardware devices." With 1.3 billion users, Facebook maintains vast server farms to house user data. "I've seen how much people care about the security of data they entrust to services like Facebook," said Facebook Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
