Facebook Acquires QuickFire to Speed Video Delivery

Facebook this week said it has acquired QuickFire, a San Diego-based video compression company. QuickFire's technology can convert video files quickly and allow them to be downloaded or played faster on mobile devices without losing quality. Facebook has placed a greater emphasis on video over the last year, and now auto-plays videos within users' news feeds. Terms of the acquisition were not revealed.
