AT&T Improves GoPhone Data Allotments

AT&T today bulked up the data offerings of two of its GoPhone plans. Subscribers to the $45 monthly plan will have 1.5GB of high-speed data instead of 1GB, and subscribers to the $60 plan will have 4GB of high-speed data instead of 2.5GB. The increased data buckets are available automatically and at no extra cost. The $45 and $60 plans also include unlimited talk and text, and unlimited texting to Mexico, Canada, and more than 100 other countries. The improved data buckets go into effect Feb. 20.

Gophone charges 60.00 for 4 GB but Cricket gives 10 GB for same price. Why such a disparity if both are owned by AT&T?
For sure, one thing is Cricket throttles data (LTE speed = 8 mbps, I think 3g/HSPA = 2 mbps). I'm guessing ATT proper doesn't do that.. 😳
Because instead of having Cricket coverage, you get AT&T.

Because while they are both owned by at&t, they are still run as separate companies. Cricket sets its own prices and plans, and at&t sets its own prices and plans. at&t doesn't create Cricket's policies.
