Nokia Appeals Interdigital Ruling

Nokia has appealed a patent infringement ruling issued against them last year by a federal district court. Interdigital and Nokia entered into a patent licensing agreement in 2001, but they have been unable to come to an agreement on royalties. A federal court determined that Nokia owes Interdigital between $232 and 252 million, however Nokia believes that amount is not reasonable. Interdigital owns a number of patents on 2 and 2.5G cellular technology which it has licensed to nearly every manufacturer in the North American market. The company just signed a licensing agreement with LG earlier this week.
