Google Launches 'My Account' Site with Privacy Controls
Jun 1, 2015, 7:13 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Google today published a new web site that people can use to manage their personal information. The My Account site offers a handful of features for checking the privacy of individual accounts and performing security checkups with step-by-step guides. With My Account, people will be able to manage the personal information that's accessed by Search, Maps, YouTube, and other Google products. Google says, for example, users can easily turn on and off settings for sharing web and app activity (used to refine search results), or location history (used to improve Google Now and Maps). People can also use the Ads Settings tool to manage the advertisements Google serves. Last, users can more easily control which apps and sites are connected to their Google account. The site is available at myaccount.google.com. In addition to the My Account site, Google also published a Q&A site that explains many of its privacy policies. That site is available at privacy.google.com.
