YouTube to Curate Eyewitness News Videos
Jun 18, 2015, 1:03 PM by Eric M. Zeman
YouTube today announced the YouTube Newswire, a feed of newsworthy eyewitness videos from around the world. The feed will be verified by YouTube's partner Storyful so only genuine videos are shown. YouTube mostly sees Newswire as a way to help journalists make use of the invaluable resource that is public-generated video. The channel will feature global and regional feeds of major events, which YouTube will curate in order to highlight the most relevant content. Anyone can follow Newswire on Twitter or subscribe to a newsletter to receive a daily delivery of videos. Much of YouTube's video content, and particularly that of eyewitness accounts, is captured on mobile phones.
