Facebook Gives Everyone More Control Over News Feed

Facebook today announced new tools that allow people to fine-tune what they see in their News Feed. It has added a series of preferences that make it possible to select which friends and Pages appear at the top of the News Feed. Tapping a friend's profile picture, for example, will boost their posts to the top of the News Feed. Facebook also made it simpler to discover new Pages to follow through a dashboard with suggestions based on Pages the user has liked in the past. Last, Facebook updated some previously released tools that let users see a week's worth of posts from their top people, Pages, and groups. Moreover, users can unfollow and re-follow friends, Pages, and groups at any time. The redesigned News Feed controls are available to the iOS app beginning today, and will reach Android devices and the web in the weeks ahead.
