Jolla Announces First Sailfish OS Licensee
Jul 16, 2015, 7:38 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Jolla today said Intex Technologies from India will license Sailfish OS and make smartphones with the platform. Earlier this month, Finland-based Jolla broke its company into two entities: one for the Sailfish operating system, and a second for creating hardware. It had earlier said it would license its operating system to other interested hardware makers. By licensing Sailfish OS, Intex will be able to create smartphones with the Finnish operating system on board. Intex expects to have products ready before the end of the year. Sailfish is based on Linux. Jolla also made Sailfish OS 2.0 available to its OEM partners. The platform is optimized for a range of different hardware and supports LTE 4G.
