Apple today said apps are being written for the Apple Watch at a furious pace, and more than 10,000 are already available. Looking forward, Apple said Facebook Messenger and GoPro are ready to port their apps to Apple's wearable device. Messenger will support message reading and writing, as well as audio messages and location sharing. GoPro will offer control over GoPro cameras as well as video previews. The Watch will also be given secure messaging capabilities that can support HIPAA-compliant communications between patients and healthcare providers. These capabilities are dependent on watchOS 2.0. The Watch itself gains a new aluminum and rose gold colors. Apple said new bands are on the way from third-party providers, as well. Last, Apple is offering a stainless steel case with a (Product) Red band. The new Watch models are available today and watchOS 2.0 will be available starting Sept. 16.
