Google has acquired a small startup called Digisfera, which specializes in 360-degree photography. The company will be added to Google's Street View team, where its technology will be used to enhance and improve Street View imagery. Digisfera, founded in 2011, is based in Portugal and has two main products: PanoTag and Marzipano. Google plans to shut down PanoTag, but will open source Marzipano. Marzipano helps process 360-degree images and make them viewable online. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
