Twitter Drops Stars for Hearts
Nov 3, 2015, 10:19 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Twitter today said it will no longer use stars to indicate Tweets that have been favorited. Twitter has long allowed users to favorite individual Tweets by pressing a little star icon. Moving forward, users may like Tweets by pressing a heart icon, instead. "You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite," explained Twitter's Akarshan Kumar. Twitter said the heart symbol transcends most languages and cultures, and is more expressive than stars. Beginning today, Twitter users will see hearts in their Android and iOS apps, as well as on Twitter.com and in Tweetdeck. Hearts will reach Twitter's Vine soon.
