YouTube Music App Launches for Android and iOS
Nov 12, 2015, 12:21 PM by Eric M. Zeman

YouTube's stand-alone music app is now available for download. The app includes a home tab for recommended artists, as well as user-configurable stations based on individual tastes. The search tool provides unlimited access to videos, tracks, artists, and albums, as well as associated remixes, covers, lyric videos, and concert footage. The basic service is free, but Google says YouTube Music is best enjoyed with YouTube Red, its $10-per-month, ad-free offering. YouTube Red gives YouTube Music users access to offline music, as well as the option to watch videos or listen in audio-only mode. Videos can play in the background when using other apps, and even when the screen is off. YouTube Music is available for free from the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store starting today. Google is offering the subscription experience to everyone as a 14-day trial.
