Microsoft Prepping Own SIM for Windows 10 Devices

Microsoft has published a new app for Windows 10 devices meant to help people connect to and pay for data networks using their Microsoft account. According to the app's description, Windows 10 device owners can view locally available plans and sign up for contract-free service directly from their device. Microsoft says the app is "designed to work solely with specific Windows 10 devices and requires a Microsoft SIM card." The concept mimics one used by Apple, which created its own SIM card for iPads. The Apple SIM card lets iPad owners sign up for cellular service from a handful of different providers without requiring them to buy a carrier-specific SIM card. Microsoft didn't say when the Microsoft SIM card will be available, nor which devices will be able to use it.
