Google Shows Off YouTube VR App for Daydream
May 19, 2016, 11:42 AM by Eric M. Zeman

Google today announced YouTube VR, a version of YouTube dedicated to virtual reality. It will be among the first apps to support Daydream, Google's new VR platform for Android devices. YouTube says the VR app will support voice search, browsing/discovery, and playlists. Google says all YouTube content — whether captured in 360-degree/3D or not — will be available via YouTube VR. Google is working with content creators and camera makers to ensure that plenty of 360-degree content is available when the app launches. Google expects YouTube VR to arrive with Daydream in the fall. It will only work with Android phones. Google didn't say if YouTube VR will be compatible with other VR headsets, such as Gear VR or Oculus.
