Facebook Brings Instant Video to Messenger

Facebook today added the ability to stream video live within its Messenger application. The feature is different from a two-way video chat, which has been part of Messenger since 2015. With Instant Videos, users tap a button and automatically begin streaming live video in one direction. The recipient can see the video without taking action, but needs to tap the video in order to hear sound. Instant Videos are available within chat threads and can be initiated with a single tap. Both the sender and the recipient need the latest Android/iOS Messenger app from Facebook in order for Instant Video to work. Moreover, both people need to be viewing the conversation thread at the same time for the video to connect. Facebook said the updated Android and iOS Messenger app will reach the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store soon.
