Motorola today announced a CDMA SLVR, and made official the two handsets that were previously code-named the Canary and Capri. The clamshell is officially called the KRZR while the slider is now known as the RIZR. All phones feature Bluetooth, a microSD memory card slot, and 176 x 220 displays.

Motorola also announced the RAZR MAXX and RAZR XX, both with HSDPA for Europe and Asia, and two new bluetooth headsets - the H601 which is designed to complement the KRZR, and the H800 which is meant to complement the RIZR.

AVAILABLE!!!

I saw the RAZR maxx, the RIZR z3, and the KRZR K1 all on wireless imports. They are unlocked and able to use on Cingular and T-Mobile. I don't think it is worth it though because they are all over $1,000. I just thought it was interesting that the phones were already being sold unlocked.

Go to www.wirelessimports.com

They have some snapshots of each of the phones.

I don't suppose anyone has any availability dates

It's not so helpful for Motorola to say 2nd half of 2006 when it's already the 2nd half of 2006.

Anyone have a clue as to when it'll be possible to buy one of these (any of the new models).

You people need to RELAX!!

Please stop complaining people. You are all such big talkers and bash motorola over and over. Please explain to me what the big deal is here???? Motorola is a business people. A business is something that makes money. They are creating new phones for their BUSINESS. There is nothing wrong with that. As for motorola naming the phones who cares what they are called. Thats not a big deal. Its just a name, nothing more than a name of a product. Every product needs a name and unfortunately for a phone its hard to come up with names so I take motorolas side for being creative on their names.

All in all I think everyone needs to take a chill pill. You people complain and complain and then when the phone comes out you are the first person in lin...

Already done:

Sanyo Katana

"Katana" is Japanese for "sword".

Rich, possible mistake?

The KRZR is the GSM version and the KRZR K1 is CDMA, correct?

If this is so, then it seems as though the CDMA version (the K1) is in fact the phone with the 2 megapixel camera. Leaving the GSM version with the 1.3 megapixel camera.

This would not be surprising seeing as the CDMA variants of the RAZR always had higher resolution cameras.

See Moto's website for detail:

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motokrzr/experi ... »

2.0 megapixel camera only available in the MOTOKRZR K1.
K1 = GSM = 2MP
K1c = CDMA = 1.3MP
Moto's inconsistent naming and branding makes this all a little confusing, but here are the full names:

KRZR K1 (GSM, AKA Canary)
KRZR K1m (CDMA, AKA K1c)
RIZR Z3 (AKA Capri)
SLVR L7c
FONE F3 (GSM)
FONE F3c (CDMA)

Anorexic

Proportions of these two new razr's look out of my taste. The original razr did look wide, but ok'ish. These are too long, way too long.
On top of that guys from Chicago are sticking with Jay Leno's chin here. That could have been designed out as well. Anyhow, disappointment from the first generation of razr.
Not balanced all in all: width, length, chin.
Won't be buying one for sure.

Annoying Names

The only things that really bothers me is like no originally on the names of the phones.

But i really dont blame them at all, because im sure the target market for these phones is alot younger than we expect (16-24? correct me if I'm wrong on this)

You associate the KRZR with the RZR so i guess its a good move on the manufactures part.

*shrugs* idk...i would rather have called the Motorola Fusion...now with triple-blade action and a natural oil that leaves your skin feeling like a baby's bottom 😁
You mean 5 blades and vibration... lol
Ha ha, yeah. But at least Moto was the first to come up with the names. Then other makers not only had the audacity to rip off the design but use similar names as well. The Samsung Blade? The Sanyo Katana? Are the marketing people for these compa...

WOOT~~!

God knows I shall sell a crap ton of these. Oh and it's clear VZW has the best phones now. We went from the worse to the best. VZW is taking over the states imo.
I guess that's one opinion. In MY opinion, Verizon will never have the opportunity to have the best phones until they stop forcing manufacturers to make phones with the unfriendly Verizon UI.
...
I don't know about VZW being on top. I disagree. They claim "most reliable network", but what exactly does that mean? If Cingular has "fewest dropped calls" and T-Mobile is "#1 in customer service", what exactly qualifies as "most reliable"?

And ph...

go gsm and loh and behold you can have a ton of fones and switch out your sim for the one you want to use for the day. Its kind of nice and the thing is there are tons of overseas fone that are even more killer.

I know this is a little off topic but....

Has anyone heard anything about the release date for the Motorola TXTR D7? It was supposed to be first half of this year but nothing yet. And when I call the non-English speaking customer service at Motorola, no one ever heard of this product... 🙄

cool, but

I'm tired of phone hype.

I'll look for them in 2008 when they're really released. With every new phone comes speculation at when it will come out . . . Q1 . . . . Q2. . . . . (of which year?)

eek

Sure, these look cool, but I am getting bored of this whole razr look-a-like thing. thank goodness for the chocolate among others, because it gets tiresome seeing so many variations of one basic thing. we certainly can't say that motorola has failed to capitalize on their success, though.
Well, the biggest positive thing I can say is at least it has stereo bluetooth, that's extremely apreciated, kill the wires! ! !

So much for the L7c coming to Sprint

Well, pcsintel.com drops the ball again. Previously reported that the L7c will come to Sprint first. Today's unveiling of the L7c and it's BREW interface points to an Alltel/Verizon rollout, not Sprint at all. Way to go guys!
I don't know why, but Sprint doesn't seem to carry much of Moto's handsets.
...
Not too surprising though, I think. If there had been any goodwill between Motorola and Sprint (debatable), it was probably erased once Sprint decided to go with RAZR clones from both Samsung and Sanyo.

No "Chocolate" Buttons on GSM KRZR???

I can't believe they didn't include the touch-sensitive buttons on the cover of the KRZR (Canary) for GSM... only CDMA... which is obviously aimed at Verizon as it also includes support for their turn-by-turn directions service.

A shame, as it looks to be a promising upgrade even to the V3i (m), although the build quality and form factor are probably not as good, would have to hold one to know.

No mas RAZR

I'm sorry. I just don't like the RAZR. Too much hype, huge price at launch. Negative. These new "KRZR" models better blow my socks off, because as of now I am not impressed.

Personally, I want the E900, but that's just me.
I just hope MOTO learn their lesson and release the phones and make sure they have no bugs like the original razrs did, and i hope the UI is faster too, im waiting to see what the moto XX and MAX looks like because all i care about right now is 3G.
