Leap Looking To Jump On Revision A
Aug 15, 2006, 7:17 PM by (staff)
Leap Wireless, the parent of Cricket, will likely launch EV-DO Revision A high speed data upgrades to their networks. Huawei Technologies today announced they would be providing equipment for Leap in three cities - Boise, Spokane and Reno - which is Revision A compatible. Last year Leap announced it expected to launch EV-DO on its network in 2006, however the company has made no announcements regarding the launch except confirming that it will occur sometime this year in a recent financial statement. It is possible that although the equipment Leap ordered is Revision A compatible, the carrier will launch Release 0 phones service. However since both Sprint and Verizon are pushing to launch Revision A upgrades late this year, it is possible that Leap will launch out of the gate with Revision A to compete.
