Google Maps to Assess How Long It Will Take to Find Parking
Jan 26, 2017, 11:32 AM by Eric M. Zeman

Google today added a tool to Google Maps that helps people gauge how difficult parking will be when they arrive at their destination. Google will rate parking difficulty across 25 metro regions in the U.S., including major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Seattle, and Atlanta. Parking difficulty will be rated easy, medium, or limited. Google says it will use historical parking data to make these assessments for each location. The parking difficulty tool is only available within the turn-by-turn navigation feature of Google Maps for Android. The idea is to let people factor in the time it will take to find parking when planning trips. Google expects to make the new version of Maps available via the Google Play Store over the next few days.
