BenQ Siemens Probably Pulling Out of Europe
Sep 28, 2006, 4:47 PM by (staff)
After three straight quarters of losses, BenQ has said it will not put any more money into its failing German operations. The company has not announced how its two remaining facilities in Germany will be affected, except to say that it may file for bankruptcy protection. The company is also considering ceasing its Brazilian operations, leaving just its Asian sales as the last remaining foothold in the handset market. In May, BenQ announced it was selling off Siemens' Danish facilities to Motorola in an attempt to reduce bloat and cut costs.
