Symbian Users Can Get Their TV On The GO

Sling Media and Sony today both launched software that will allow users to watch their home TV from their Symbian powered smartphones. Sling Media offers a variety of set-top boxes that will can capture cable, satellite or HDTV broadcast as it comes into your TV and broadcast it over the internet to a secure player. They now offer players for both S60 and UIQ smartphones in addition to Windows Mobile. Sony offers similar set-top boxes and will now offer a Location Free player for the Sony Ericsson P990, and presumably other 3G UIQ phones including the M600 and W950. Though Sling nor Sony charge a service to use their place shifting applications, users still pay their normal wireless data charges while streaming shows from home.
