Diamond-like Coating Will Protect Future Phones

Nokia has received a patent for coating phones with an ultra tough diamond-like substance created with a graphite plasma. The plasma is bonded to the plastic phone casing with an electrical arc to create a coating that is both durable and anti-static to repel dirt and dust. This is similar to the process for creating man-made diamonds. Apple has also patented a technique to create diamond-like casings for phones, by extruding a Zirconia ceramic into case shape instead of coating a plastic case. According to Apple's filing, the Zirconia coating does not affect the phone's reception
