Autoplay Comes to YouTube On Android Phones
Apr 10, 2018, 7:50 AM by Eric M. Zeman

YouTube has rolled out a new autoplay behavior on Android devices that automatically starts playing video with the sound off when you open the app. YouTube has been testing the function since last year and it is now being pushed to most Android users. The feature is called Autoplay on Home and it is on by default. Upon launching YouTube, the top-most video starts playing immediately in silent mode. Tapping the video turns the sound on. The video will continue to play as you browse for other content. Users can manage the tool in the Autoplay section of the YouTube app settings. It can be set to be always on, WiFi only, or off.
