Android P Reaches Penultimate Build Before General Release

Google today released Android P beta version 4, what it calls the final preview of P before the operating system is fully released. Android P adds features for end users and developers alike. For example, it tackles notifications for messaging, adds image previews in notifications, and creates selectable auto-responses. A new API gives developers more power over devices with dual rear- or front-facing cameras. Android P brings with it support for "display cutouts" similar to the notch on the LG G7 or OnePlus 6. Android P makes significant improvements to indoor tracking and adopts a new version of the Neural Networks API for more AI-based operations. Android P makes multiple improvements to the autofill framework; introduces a unified fingerprint authentication dialog and high-assurance user confirmation for better security; makes it easier for developers to add accessibility features to their apps; and ensures that Android P devices will be better able to decode various image types. Android P is compatible with the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL handsets. Google expects the final version of Android P to be available later this summer. Google has still not named Android P.
