Twitter says it will no longer provide updates to its app for devices running iOS 9 and older. In the changelog for the most recent iteration of the app, Twitter explained that it is “streamlining our app development for all clients. As a result, devices on iOS 9 or older will no longer receive updates from Twitter.” Twitter goes on to say that people interested in the latest features, bug fixes, and security improvements to the app will need to update their iPhone or iPad to iOS 10 or higher. Apple’s iOS 9 is nearing three years old, and Apple is on the cusp of releasing iOS 12. Twitter for iOS 9 will still offer base functionality.
