Twitter Enables Audio-Only Broadcasting from Mobile Apps
Sep 8, 2018, 10:21 AM by Eric M. Zeman

Twitter has made it possible for people to stream just live audio from their mobile device. The functionality is built into the live streaming portion of the app, which until recently was reserved only for live video. Now, users can select to broadcast either live video or live audio. The live broadcasted audio can be listened to by anyone on Twitter. Those doing the broadcasting will be able to view stats, time-played, and other metrics. This feature is available through the iOS Twitter app and Twitter's stand-alone Periscope streaming app. Twitter hasn't said when audio streaming might reach other platforms.
