Instagram Founders Name Adam Mosseri New Top Gun

Adam Mosseri, Instagram's VP of Product, is taking over the leadership position effective today. Co-founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom announced their departure from the photo-centric social network late last month. "We are thrilled to hand over the reins to a product leader with a strong design background and a focus on craft and simplicity — as well as a deep understanding of the importance of community," said Krieger and Systrom in a blog post. Mosseri comes from Facebook, where he started in 2008. Facebook owns Instagram. "The most important thing is keeping our community front and center in all that Instagram does," continued Krieger and Systrom. "We believe that Adam will hold true to these values and that Instagram will continue to thrive." Instagram is one of the most popular apps available to today's mobile devices.
