Apple today released the first public beta of iOS 12.1.1. iPhone and iPad owners who have registered for the public beta should be able to download the beta right away. This release is mostly expected to fix bugs, but it does include some feature adjustments. For example, Apple News users can now hide the side bar if they wish. The platform tweaks FaceTime controls a bit, as well. The bar at the bottom now offers buttons for switching cameras and muting calls, with other actions a short swipe away. Apple provided this beta to developers earlier in the week. It's likely iOS 12.1.1 will remain in beta testing for a month before a final version is released.
