Sprint Snaps Up Affiliate

Today Sprint acquired Northern PCS Services, one of its affiliate partners, for $312.5 million. Northern PCS is based in Minnesota and provides Sprint services to certain markets in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Sprint will assume a portion of Northern's debt. The acquisition should close in the third quarter of this year.

What does this mean?
Can any other employee of an ex affiliate give me an insight as to what major changes will take place? I anticipated this change, although maybe not so soon. What are the primary things that change when you become part of Sprint Nextel?
Doesn't matter because when they do the count of "Sprint" customers affiliate numbers are included.
