You Can Now Edit Messages on Android

The Google Messages app has been updated to support editing messages after they've been sent in RCS chats. The feature is supported in both group and one-on-one threads. Editing is only allowed for 15 minutes. To use the feature, press and hold on the message you wish to edit. Apple's iMessage has supported message editing since 2022, when Apple also introduced message un-sending and the ability to mark messages unread.

Don't work

I have the Google Pixel 7a. I have updated it several times & I still can't edit any my text I send via RCS. When you press & hold down the message you want to edit their is no option to do so. Just brings up the emoji's to react to the RCS messages. So how do you edit then??
Are you sure the thread is RCS and not SMS or MMS?

It might require that the Messages app be updated at both (or all) ends to work.

Also note the time limit mentioned in the article.
