Sanyo Electric Company has agreed to sell its mobile phone sales business to a mobile phone retail company called Telepark. The mobile phone sales division is responsible for selling and provisioning phones to customers. It is not the unit that manufactures phones, which is still for sale separately. Sanyo is in the midst of a major restructuring and the sale of the loss-generating mobile phone sales unit will help it focus on its core businesses. Telepark paid $41.6 million for the handset sales division. The mobile phone sales business was a small unit of Sanyo's overall business, amounting to just 2% of Sanyo's revenues.
