Qualcomm Develops Network-Hopping Chipset

A new chipset announced by Qualcomm today can switch between EV-DO and HSPA networks. This chipset is not intended for mobile phones, but will be incorporated into both internal and external wireless modems for laptops. The chip is called Gobi and will be available in laptops and modems beginning in the second quarter of 2008.
