700 MHz Broadband Will Extend Beyond US Shores
Nov 16, 2007, 3:21 PM by Eric Lin
At the ITU's World Radiocommunication Conference, a number of countries in Central and South America as well as Asia all agreed to make 700 MHz spectrum available for wireless broadband technologies. Neither Brazil nor Europe could adopt this spectrum because of policies already in place, however they each have adjacent spectrum in the 700-800 MHz range will they will clear for similar purposes by 2015. Though most Central and South American countries adopted previous US cellular bands, this is the first time Asian countries will break with Europe and do the same.

Don't confuse 700 with 1700. đ Google and AT&T are more likely to buy 700 MHz in the upcoming auction. 1700 is what T-Mobile bought.
Worldwide singleband 3G/4G?!?!?
Nice to know the technological hurdles aren't so high anymore - now there's just the political ones, which will be batted around for years while the carriers try to squeeze every last dime they possibly can out of it. . . âšī¸
