ITC Judge Rules in Nokia's Favor in Patent Case
Dec 13, 2007, 9:20 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Nokia has won an initial judgment in a patent dispute with competitor Qualcomm. A judge with the U.S. International Trade Commission decided that Nokia did not infringe on three Qualcomm patents that cover power consumption in GSM, GPRS and EDGE phones. This ruling still has to be upheld by the ITC, and Qualcomm has said it will appeal the decision. A final decision won't be made until April 2008. Qualcomm had sought to ban Nokia from importing phones using the patented technology into the U.S.
