Alltel Turns Voicemail Into Text
Dec 17, 2007, 1:36 AM by Eric Lin
Alltel today is making a service called Voice2TXT available to all its subscribers. If a user signs up, all voicemail messages are transcribed and sent to his phone as text messages, instead of having to call in to listen to them the traditional way. The service starts at $5 for 20 voicemail messages and goes up to $20 for 100. Though SimulScribe offers a similar service to smartphone users, this is the first time a carrier has offered it to all its subscribers.
