LG, Verizon Offer Firmware Update for Voyager

In response to user complaints regarding certain aspects of the LG Voyager's functionality, LG and Verizon have issued a firmware update that promises to fix many of the problems. Among the improvements are: prolonged battery life, better support for Bluetooth functions, improved HTML and mobile web browsing and fixes to glitches such as the auto lock, and the V CAST Music store. The update is not available over the air. Customers need to go to a Verizon store in order to have the devices reflashed. Verizon recommends calling ahead to see if your local store has the update before going there.

This is not necessarily a bad sign, rather good since almost all the problems have been resolved within a month of the phone being out. Now the Voyager is even better than when it released so I'm definetly going to get one for chirstmas 😁

Prolonged battery life?
How can you prolong the life of a battery by updating the software of a phone? I understand that the web may be improved, Bluetooth updated by removing the restrictions, etc.
But how can one make a battery longer by updating the software?
(I'm sorry, I guess this is more of a rant than a thread) but if it is possible to prolong a battery that to me is B.S. in that Verizon only waits for enough complaints to make a battery last as long as it SHOULD.

Well. How do you know how long a battery should last for? Especially for a powerhouse phone like that? You have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering? Battery Physics (i dunno what you would call it)? that was my rant.

It's like updating the BIOS in a computer, because that's bascially what a cell phone is. I've been a long time Verizon member, and I can tell you i'm very surprised that Verizon even has the Voyager
Maybe the low supply isn't so bad
As an indirect retailer, I was pretty bummed that we couldn't get our hands on them before Christmas. But maybe by the time we can get them, the bugs will be worked out.
