Sprint is looking for subscribers to participate in a beta test of NFC cashless payment. The trials, which are being held in the San Francisco Bay Area will test NFC as both payment at local Jack In The Box as well as transportation payment and ticketing on the BART - the trains that connect San Francisco to Oakland, Berkeley and the rest of the East Bay. The phone will work as a pre-paid debit card at Jack In The Box and will debit from a separate account on BART. When users get below $10 on the BART account, the card will automatically charge itself back up to $45 from the user's bank account. Users who sign up will get an NFC-enabled phone from Sprint in order to take advantage of these new service. Payments will be made by touching the phone to readers setup at BART turnstiles and Jack In The Box registers. An NFC chip can store information about multiple secure accounts.

so let's say the trials run perfectly and Sprint decides to bring it out to the market... what happens when you loose your phone? not only do you loose your phone but the person who finds it can actually make purchases with YOUR phone from YOUR bank account.... with this new service is anyone going to care to ask for ID when making a purchase? Well, that's just another great way for thieves to become richer ๐Ÿ˜ณ ..... just like credit/debit cards.... no wonder i hate those things so much....
