Nokia Shows You the Way with Maps 2.0
Feb 11, 2008, 4:15 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Nokia announced a beta version of Nokia Map 2.0 that is ready for downloading. The biggest update to the software is a feature called Walk, which is pedestrian-focused navigation for those walking around city streets. It provides visual turn-by-turn directions and also provides information about surrounding buildings, streets and parks. With handsets that have built-in compasses, it will point you to North. It will also let users access multimedia guides that have photos and videos of points of interest. Nokia is also making the Maps application available to Series 40 handsets sometime in the first half of 2008. Maps 2.0 is available for download at the Nokia Beta Labs web site.
