Torch Mobile Debuts Browser for Windows Mobile

Torch Mobile announced the Iris browser, a mobile browser for Windows Mobile 6 smartphones. According to Torch, it is a small and fast browser that provides a "real web" experience. It has a virtual mouse that lets users navigate web pages quickly. It also lets you zoom in and out and pan around, as well as use multiple different types of input, including touch screens. It supports SSL for secure browsing and auto-rotates between landscape and portrait modes on devices with accelerometers. A free preview download is available immediately.

Wow this is horrible!

I just downloaded it and it is the worst WM browser I've ever seen. The biggest problem is it is SLOW. I thought there was something wrong with my phone so I soft reset, and still the same thing. It is chunky to scroll around and takes forever to load a page, and forever to navigate it.

If you want a free beta browser that's readily available (curse you Skyfire!), go down in the phonescoop news a little below this and download NetFront. That one is a million times better than this. I was going to pay for Opera Mini, but I actually like Netfront better than Opera. I can't wait to try Skyfire though that looks tight.

BTW, this is running on my Sprint Touch, so plenty of memory.

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah NetFront is the best of all the browsers(except for Skyfire, from what ive seen on the net), but its still kind of slow.
