Google Gears Goes Mobile
Mar 4, 2008, 8:21 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Google began making Google Gears available on mobile devices. Gears allows users to continue to use a web-based application even if the Internet connection has been lost or the user is offline. Gears must be installed locally on the smartphone in oder to work. Google is first offering Gears mobile for Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile 5 and 6 smartphones. It is working to extend Gears to other mobile browsers and platforms, but did not commit to any release dates.
