New software was announced today that will give parents a tighter degree of control over their children's cell phones in the hopes of protecting them. MyKidisSafe is a suite that allows parents to control mobile phone use while driving, scan messages for evidence of bullying and objectionable words, as well as restrict cell phone use during school or sleeping hours. The software is managed via a web portal, and is fine-tunable so that kids may use phones during their lunch breaks, as well as add people to a "safe list" of permitted contacts. The software is available for download, though MyKidisSafe is talking to carriers about offering it through other parental control services.
