Ericsson, STMicro Agree to Wireless Chip Joint Venture

Today Ericsson and STMicroelectronics announced that they plan to merge their wireless chip and software businesses. The new entity will supply wireless components to four of the top five makers of cell phones, including Nokia, Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson. The joint venture will go head to head with Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.
