T-Mobile Mulling Lawsuit Over White Spaces
Oct 17, 2008, 1:11 PM by Eric M. Zeman
T-Mobile is weighing its legal options after the FCC cleared the way for white space spectrum to be auctioned off. T-Mobile — and AT&T and the CTIA — still contend that use of the white space spectrum will interfere with networks operating on the AWS-1 spectrum, such as T-Mobile's. If the FCC votes to hold a spectrum auction, T-Mobile will consider bringing a lawsuit against the government agency. The FCC hopes to auction off the white space spectrum, called AWS-3 for now, in 2009. It may be used to provide free wireless Internet services.
