Sprint Drops Price of Family Locator Service

Starting October 31, Sprint customers can sign up for the GPS-powered Family Locator service for $5 per line per month. The service previously cost $10 per month.

Good Deal but...
But not so sure it would work just to keep tabs on your troubled kid/Spouse. Does this work when the handset is off? I don't believe it does. So your kid or spouse could elude any detection by shutting their phone off and using a friends or lovers. Also there is a way to shut off the GPS on the phone anyway except for the 911. Can someone correct me if I am wrong?

How is this cheaper?
Now its $5 per line. Chances are you will want to sign up at least 2 lines if not more.
I really don't see it being cheaper. For most, it will probably be more expensive!
