Nokia Expects to Close Symbian Buy-Out By Year's End

Nokia indicated that its planned purchase of Symbian is on track to close by the end of 2008. Nokia announced its intent to purchase Symbian from the other stakeholders, which included firms such as Sony Ericsson and Motorola, for $340 million in June. Nokia intends to make the Symbian software free to developers and handset makers.
