Nokia Maps Its Future With bit-side

Today Nokia announced that is has agreed to acquire privately held bit-side, a small location-based services software company. Nokia said the acquisition will strengthen and accelerate its mobile development for Nokia Maps. Nokia firmly believes that adding context and location awareness to mobile applications is an important tool for what it calls "social location" services. bit-side will be folded into Nokia's Internet Services unit. The acquisition should be completed before the end of the first quarter.
