Pantech Bringing Breath-Controlled Features to Korea
Feb 3, 2009, 8:59 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Pantech is using Fantalog Interactive's Emotion Engine software to enable breath-controlled interactive features on a handset that it is selling in Korea called the Sky Wind. Blowing on the Sky Wind's microphone will evoke different actions depending on the intensity of the wind (short or long bursts) moving across the microphone. It can be used to change wallpapers, alter screen brightness settings and take pictures. The software can also accept input from an accelerometer if the phone is so equipped. Pantech has not said whether or not it will use this technology in future phones, but it has licensed the software engine for the next three years.
